CREATING FeatureMILL2.5D FEATURES

High Speed Machining

If you are interested in high speed machining or would like to achieve more consistent cutter loads for traditional cutting, FeatureMILL2.5D has the control you need, including:

  • Curly Corner Toolpath provides high speed roughing with a more consistent cutter load, by using a trochoid path throti slots and in tight corners
  • Helical finishing finishes the walls of your feature without leaving any entry or exit marks
  • Display of cutter loads during 3D simulation
  • Corner rounding to eliminate sharp corners during roughing
  • 2D ramped stepovers
  • 3D helical and zig-zag ramping
  • Plunge off the part

Advanced Production

Multiple Setups and Multiple Parts

With FeatureMILL2.5D's multiple fixture wizard, you can combine single part programs into multiple part programs, which can also be formatted to include advanced NC programming techniques, such as macros or sub-programs, and fixture offset changes to minimize program length.

4th Axis Capability

With FeatureMILL2.5D, you can wrap features around the X and Y axis to create 4th axis programs, with rotary table support. You can also machine multiple sides of a part in a single program using indexing.

Tombstone Machining (optional module)

The tombstone module supports both horizontal and vertical machines. You can develop your toolpath strategies without worrying about the complexities of multiple-part machining. A step-by-step wizard helps you arrange the parts on the tombstone and order features for tool-dominant indexing. Parts rotate during simulations to accurately illustrate indexing moves.

5-Axis Positioning (optional module)

The 5-axis positioning module reduces the number of setups, which saves you time and complications. Errors are decreased because you can machine 5 sides of a part without the need for re-clamping. You can use fixture off-sets for each setup or a single touch-off point for the entire part.
